Equality Act compliance
FLR Group may have begun life over 30 years ago as a flooring company, but we have since developed a solid reputation for meeting the needs of residential and commercial customers who are looking for flooring, furniture and building solutions that are safe and fit for purpose. This means that compliance is at the heart of everything we do.
A central consideration for businesses has to be whether their premises are accessible for people with disabilities. If you own a business, then you no doubt want to ensure that your customers and staff can get in, out and around the building safely. You will also be mindful of the Equality Act, which used to be called the Disability Discrimination Act.
You may not know exactly what the Equality Act requires of you, in which case we would be happy to offer you advice based on the nature of your business and premises. We offer a complete service, from taking an initial survey right through to supplying and fitting all the work necessary to make your buildings compliant with the Equality Act. You might require major alterations or simply minor adaptations to your buildings, such as:
• Widening doorways to enable wheelchair users to get through
• Adapting your bathroom or kitchen equipment
• Building an extension
• Installing ramps, lifts and hoists
• Providing Braille and tactile signage
• Fitting hearing induction loops for people with hearing impairments
• Building compliant access ramps
We have worked with many healthcare establishments (including the Priory Group), schools, academies, housing associations, local authorities and private businesses to recommend, supply and fit those alterations and additions that are necessary (and in line with Part M of the Building Regulations) to make buildings compliant with the Equality Act.
Our fitting staff are all directly employed and DBS checked for your peace of mind. If you have any queries or would like to arrange a site visit, please feel free to call into our dedicated showroom.
Our friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you to decide whether you need to act to make your building compliant, and if so how to do so quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption to your working day.
